Travel Support Opportunity for Young African Climate Leaders UNFCCC SB 62, Bonn, Germany

The African Youth Commission (AYC) within the context of the African Activists for Climate Justice Project (AACJ), a 5-year programme funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands is offering travel support for outstanding young climate leaders from selected African countries to attend the UNFCCC SB 62 session in Bonn, Germany, taking place from 16 to 26 June 2025.
✈ Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
Be a young leader (aged 18–35) from one of the following countries:
Kenya, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Ethiopia, Somalia, Mozambique, or Burkina Faso
Be affiliated to youth organisation and registered to attend SB 62 and either:
Already possess a valid Schengen visa, or
Have a strong visa history, especially for the Schengen area, and can demonstrate the ability to secure a visa in time
Be available to travel to Bonn for 1 week only (either Week 1 or Week 2 of the conference)
Have a track record of engagement in UNFCCC processes, such as prior participation in:
a) COPsb) Previous SB sessions
c) Youth or civil society delegations
Demonstrate an active role in climate advocacy, negotiations, or community-level implementation
📅 Duration
Support is for a maximum of one week, either in Week 1 or Week 2 of SB 62.
🌱 Priority Will Be Given To:
Applicants with previous experience in Bonn or similar UNFCCC events
Leaders involved in climate policy, advocacy, negotiations, or national delegations
Individuals affiliated with recognized youth networks or climate movements
The support will cover return economy flight ticket, daily subsistence and accommodationallowances based on AYC rates for the duration of participation.
